Modern wasted spark coil packs have a number of advantages over the original Porsche 944 single coil ignition systems. The main one is a stronger spark particularly at high rpm. They also eliminate a number of components in the ignition system, namely the distributor and rotor arm.

We typically change customer vehicles over to wasted spark when tuning to over 300hp or when the entire original ignition system needs replacement. We have found that over 350hp the standard ignition system cannot always reliably ignite the air fuel mixture resulting in misfires. This is especially true if components of the ignition system are 30+ years old!

We can provide a full wasted spark ignition system for Porsche 944’s running our AugTronic ECU. This includes wiring, coils, leads and mounting hardware. Our system is fully tested to work with AugTronic.

The standard Porsche 944 ECU cannot run wasted spark ignition as it only has a single coil output.
